People mostly call others pretentious based on insecurity

I have come across far, far more criticisms of “snobby” film critics that supposedly only watch new wave french cinema than actual people that fit the bill. Even the people really into movies I know in the real world who have seen the movements typically love and adore Michael bay and James Cameron. I’ve seen much more of criticisms against this stereotype than actual people that meet the bill. I think that people will maybe hear a movie they’ve never heard of or found boring and they’ll feel insecure, so they’ll create this projection of an annoying fan demeaning them.
