Weaning off Formula/Night feeds

Feeding

My sweet little baby just turned 1 and so far we’ve done a great job of weaning her off formula. She loves food, water and whole milk. But I’m having a really hard time with the night feeds. I don’t think that they are habit formed because 60% of the time she sleeps all the way through the night, but every once in a while she wakes at 3am crying uncontrollably and obviously hungry.

I try to give her a big dinner before bed, but she is much better at eating breakfast and lunch if I’m being honest. When she wakes up and is full still, she can easily put herself back to bed, but when she’s hungry I can’t get her to go back to sleep until she has a bottle. I’m at a loss of what to do. I’ve tried just not giving in, but she screams herself purple and has real tears. I know I can’t give her formula forever, but do I warm up whole milk and hope it’s enough to fill her tummy?
