tooth extraction for braces, worth it?

im planning to get braces in my late teens, i consulted the dentist they suggested 2 ways -

1. getting 2 teeth extracted
2. no extractions

they said 2nd way will give compromised results and 1st way is the best, im scared of getting teeth removed as my teeth are healthy so what if i regret later on in life, is it really worth it and will it have and long term medical effects?
