Reaction to antifungals
I’m putting this out there in case is helps anyone else. Any time I’d take fluconazole (diflucan) I would get mouth and eyelids burning and tingling, a visible what looked like a bad sunburn all over my body and then after a few day scabs from the burn, usually on my face around my mouth. My vagina would also burn strongly but I always thought it was just the yeast infection. After years of telling doctors something wasn’t right and being ignored, a nurse expressed concern and looked up the medication. This reaction can be extremely serious, and is known as Steven’s-Johnson syndrome.
I cannot take any antifungals ever again.
I had a doctor tell me that a cream for a bit of yeast under my breasts would be fine but I got the sunburn and mouth tingling and knew that I was once again not being taken seriously.
This is a reaction that can happen with antifungals so if you have ever had this reaction, please look into Steven’s-Johnson syndrome and advocate for yourself. It can be mild or require hospitalization.
