Uttarakhand’s Most Visited Tourist Destinations in 2024 — The Ranking Is Interesting
We came across the Uttarakhand Tourism Department’s 2024 tourist statistics, and some of the numbers are quite surprising.
Based on total Indian + foreign visitors:
- 🥇 Haridwar — 3.49 Cr
- 🥈 Dehradun — 64.9 Lakh
- 🥉 Tehri — 50.7 Lakh
- Mussoorie — 21.3 Lakh
- Badrinath — 17.7 Lakh
- Kedarnath — 16.5 Lakh
- Rishikesh — 9.7 Lakh
- Nainital — 10.2 Lakh
- Srinagar — 6.3 Lakh
- Gangotri — 5.4 Lakh
What caught my attention is Tehri at #3, ahead of several traditionally dominant tourist destinations.
For anyone looking at Uttarakhand from a homestay, Airbnb, hotel or tourism-business perspective, tourist footfall is obviously only one part of the equation.
Things like:
- Average length of stay
- Seasonality
- Weekend vs weekday demand
- Property supply
- ADR / room rates
- Accessibility
- Tourist profile
- Competition
can completely change which destination is actually attractive for a hospitality business.
