Is it worth it to attempt peds in Ontario?

Canadian IMG, raised in Ontario from birth until middle school. My family moved abroad right before high school, so I did med school abroad. We’ve owned a house in Ontario, pay taxes, and all my documents (ie health card) are from Ontario. With the high school rule, i’m out of luck.

I’m eligible for the 2028 cycle and interested in pediatrics, but with the number of seats of peds already being limited, i’m contemplating throwing out Canada all together and just going to the US — even though my ultimate goal is to practice in Canada. NAC is crazy expensive, electives are expensive, and I don’t want to throw everything in with a nil chance of matching.
