Why is ArtFight a *gifting* game now?

I was 100% sure ArtFight is and always has been an art *trading* game. So, when people kept saying it is an art *gifting* game, I was confused as to where they got that information from.

So, I decided to check the front page again, to prove to myself that I'm not crazy and it is indeed an art trading game, but, to my surprise, it now says "gifting".

After a bit of digging, I noticed that it changed from "trading" to "gifting" in 2025. I joined ArtFight in 2019, so that would explain why I was convinced it said "trading" on the front page.

Does anyone know why this change happened? I looked into their newsposts a bit and couldn't find a reasoning.

TL:DR ArtFight used to be an art *trading* game, but that changed to "gifting" in 2025. Does anyone here know why?
