Social Media is Tenacious

I was never a big social media guy. I only started using social media a lot during the past year as an offset activity in my recovery. I created my Reddit account primarily to lean in to this community, but I used Instagram and other socials in ways that worked against me. I looked for and easily found thirst traps that ended up pushing me to relapse. My fault, blame accepted.

Fortunately, I was able to get control of my Instagram account to avoid the thirst traps - out of sight out of mind. In the past few days, my Reddit feed, that was previously very porn-free focused, has been serving up thirst traps on a regular basis. I won't name the subs involved, but there are 3 or 4 subs that seem harmless but regularly feature posts that are triggering to someone like me. I'm not looking for advice, I can do the work to bend the Reddit algorithm just like I did for Instagram, but it sure would be nice if I didn't have to.

Just a warning that I'm sure you're already well aware of. Social media is forever trying to suck you in with content that will push you to porn. No doubt about it.
