Some helpful notes and tools
I recently pieced together a machine to use as a "steam machine" with cachyOS. Here are my build specs in case someone has similar hardware:
-
ASUS ROG STRIX X870-F (latest BIOS)
-
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D with Corsair Titan 240 iCUE Link AIO
-
AMD 9070 XT 16GB GPU
-
NZXT H5 Flow
-
NZXT Control Hub
-
NZXT F360 RGB Core 360mm Single Frame Case Fan
-
G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series DDR5 RAM (AMD EXPO) 32GB (2x16GB)
-
Samsung 1TB 980 Pro (OS drive)
-
Samsung 2TB 9100 Pro (game drive)
-
I ran into some interesting issues, specifically a long boot time issue that ended up being a driver issue. I was able to find the upstream PR for the firmware that's waiting to be merged in by Mediatek.. There are other helpful notes in there.
-
cachyos-tweaks is a really handy script for manipulating settings that might otherwise be exposed in the UI.
-
steam-launchopts let's you list, set, get steam launch options for games.
-
I used liquidctl to control the NZXT fans via the Control Hub.
-
I used a combination of openlinkhubclient and OpenLinkHub to configure the Corsair AIO. I'm planning on swapping it out for an NZXT Kraken Elite 240mm AIO so I don't have to worry about Corsair stuff anymore.
Feedback is welcome. I hope this helps people optimize their cachyOS builds like it helped me!
