Moving cats to Mexico City

Advice

We have three cats, two 5 year old cats who have moved once and a 1 year old we found on the street as a tiny kitten. We also have a golden retriever but none of the cats cuddle with him really. The baby is fine with us and with people that respect her space but she is still easily startled and won’t put up with anything from other people.

We are moving from DFW to Mexico City. All animals are under regular vet care and we’re taking their advice for the move, but it feels very basic. I’ve moved cats before but always driven and never across country lines, and never with a former feral cat. They will fly under seat with us.

Does anyone have any personal tips or tricks for moving at all but especially to a high altitude with a sensitive cat? We once couldn’t find her for hours after a ladder fell over loudly and clearly scared her, I still don’t know where she hid. I’m stuck in DFW and he is in Mexico because the process of getting our new condo was harder than expected.

Our current plan is for us all to fly to Mexico and hopefully be straight in the new place. We might be on the floor but we’ll be with them. My husband wanted to rent an air bnb in case we can’t get in the house but I think moving once would be easier on them, but we may not have help flying them later in Sept.
