I think i figured out the reason why MAWS is so successful...

Is UNPREDICTABLE

When you adapt a character like Superman you always expect kind of what you already know about the character from both comics, shows and movies. The show sort of start with the idea you (the audience) know what Superman is (and even if you don't isn't a problem) and from here they build their own story, their own lore.

It is also very clear this show comes from a place and someone that loves both comics and anime (Dragon Ball in particular) and by fusing those two elements they ended up creating probably one of the best adaptations of Superman in the last decade or more. By combining a lot of elements from both comics (the 50s and 90s comics in particular), the movies and other stuff and by adding that anime flavor what they have created is a show that is both familiar but diffrent at the same time.

Speaking as a long time comic reader and Superman fan, especially this season seem so unpredictable even to me that it becomes so much entertaining to watch and to see what happens next. Like for an example last episode where i did not expect that >!Lex was creating the Eradicator and were re-doing a Death of Superman-like fight that ended up with Eradicator almost killing Kara and going loose on the time stream. !<And this worked so well because i and everyone else did not see that coming.

Is kind of like this was their own version of the Ultimate Universe before the Absolute Universe came out where they could reinvent the wheel without worrying about sticking too much to the main canon while making a Superman that feels both classic and original at the same time. If the show was more like Superman TAS from the 90s it would have been predictable where the story was going with Doomsday, Death of Superman etc. but the fact that Jake Wyatt and the writers of the show decided to take the character in a direction and to make both familiar and diffrent at the same time while sticking to the basis of the character just makes me wanting to compliment on them for making this show. Defenetly one of the best Superman adaptation in the past few years.
