Looking for remote work ended up taking me in a different direction

For the longest time, I thought the only way to make a living was to work in an office. That was pretty much my entire career, so I never really questioned it. Then I found out that a lot of jobs could be done remotely. I started applying, thinking it would be a nice change, but I quickly realised how tough the market is.

You're not just competing with people in your area. You're competing with applicants from all over the world, and some are willing to work for rates that would be below minimum wage in the US because it still makes sense where they live. I don't blame them at all, everyone's just trying to earn a living. After a while, I decided to stop putting all my eggs in one basket. Since I'd spent years working in retail, I figured I'd try something related and opened a small dropshipping store online

I'm still learning, and it's definitely not passive. There are customer messages, returns, supplier issues, and all the usual headaches that come with running a business. But it feels good knowing I'm building something. I now have a few people working remotely with me to help run the store. We're still in the early stages, but it's exciting to see it gradually take shape
