Manipulation vs initiation

I know manipulation skills dont count as a direct attack so they dont open aura nodes in the victim, but i can’t remember if it’s ever explained in detail.

I vaguely remember half-awakening being talked about but I think only when explaining halkenburg’s gsb’s ability.

Does anyone know which chapters explain initiation and how manipulation skills affect a non user?
