Seasonal Partners & Dupe questions

Hello guys, new player here.

I would like to know your opinion about seasonal partners. Are they worth it? I started the game for Arabella, so I'm wondering if Heidemarie's and Sereniel's partners were mandatory or not.

Also, are there any characters in the game that play differently if you get their dupe, or is it only for doing more damage?

Thanks.
