Reservation automatically canceled after declined alteration requests. Now showing as a host cancellation?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced a similar situation on Airbnb.

I sent an alteration request to my guest, which they declined. I sent another alteration request, and that was declined as well. After that, the reservation was automatically canceled.

The confusing part is that the reservation now shows that the host canceled the booking, even though I never clicked the “Cancel Reservation” button myself.

Has anyone faced something similar? Is it possible that Airbnb’s system or Support canceled the reservation but it was still recorded as a host cancellation? If so, were you able to get Airbnb to correct the record?
