Job hunt
Hi
I am currently enrolled as a master's by research student in cancer medicine and I want to find a job as a Research assistant. I am applying for jobs on jobs.ac.uk site. No luck so far. In the eligibility criteria they mention masters student with experience in blah blah techniques. Well, I did think I am such a good-fit for such roles, but i end getting rejections. Don't know what's going wrong? I mean, how are they finding someone extraordinary when the criteria itself says Masters, with lab experience and so on? Really a genuine question. Because I want to work on it accordingly.
I want to do a Phd ahead. But before that I want something fixed term as a research assistant role. My friend in the same program as me, is applying for companies like GSK and all. But I have been adviced that if you want a career in academia then it would be good if you stick to university roles rather than the companies.
well, right now, I really don't know, what to do? I know, applying to these companies will be a long journey. because i have seen people getting instant rejections. I am really confused what I should do? What is making others to stand out in the application? Is the job market too shitty or what? I would really really appreciate some guidance. I just want to know, why I may not be getting a job or applying to companies is still fine, but the academia roles are better or what?
