New to lego; need gift recommendation

I have never purchased a lego set or anything from the lego store before. I've played with building blocks as a child and enjoy playing with the same with my 16 month old now. My husband's birthday is in 3 days and I would love to get him a lego one piece pirate ship flying lamb set. We visited a lego store recently and we were both amazed at the sets. He was more amazed as he is a huge fan of one piece, dune, pokemon and football. The sets costs 130 eur and that's not cheap. Are there tips, tricks or any advice before jumping into buying this? Because it's a birthday gift, I can't buy something small to test. I think we'll enjoy doing this together. My question is more about the price. Is buying from the lego store in the mall in berlin a good idea?
