Daily Framing Watch: The left named Trump's $2B as a conflict but never traced it. The right didn't run it at all.

Trump's financial disclosures reveal billions in earnings during presidency

How the left framed it

Vox, the Guardian, Salon, Mother Jones, and The Hill led on the conflict of interest. Mother Jones called the disclosure proof that "the presidency is making Trump exponentially richer," separating paper crypto gains from "hard cash paid to him." Salon and The Hill both flagged that Trump reported over $1 billion from a memecoin he says he doesn't touch, while the Guardian paired a "blind account" live blog with a full editorial. The conflict framing was everywhere — a specific policy decision tied to a specific dollar was nowhere.

How the right framed it

It didn't. Fox News, the New York Post, Breitbart, and the Washington Examiner don't appear anywhere in the tracked coverage — the disclosure was carried by left, center-left, and center outlets only (BBC, Slate, Fortune, and CNBC among them). The outlets whose audiences are most likely to accept the White House's "no conflicts of interest" line at face value simply weren't in the set.

The gap

Two different silences. The left named the conflict but never substantiated it — not one outlet linked a dollar figure to a specific rule, order, or foreign-policy call, which leaves a $2 billion wealth story rather than a corruption one. The right left the $2 billion alone entirely. What neither side pressed: who holds stakes in the family's World Liberty Financial, and whether a "blind account" actually meets the legal definition of a blind trust.
