Jungian shadow work in Spider-Man A Brand New Day
I understand that this forum usually doesn't entertain things like the Marvel franchise and that's absolutely fine. I personally tend to enjoy more symbolic or "deeper" offerings for something to intellectually chew on.
However I saw the new Spiderman movie and I was pleasantly surprised to see them tackling a more Jungian approach to the titular character. There was actually a lot of symbolic meaning to this movie that I was a fan of and is spoken about at length in the review below.
I wondered if anybody else had come away with the same kinds of thoughts? It seems the majority of reviews for this movie are negative. Which I find quite surprising. For me, it felt more like a departure from the straightforward storytelling we had seen before into something that, although not necessarily deeply complex, certainly held more symbolic and esoteric layers to it than anything else I can think of within the franchise. Thoughts?
