A sincere reminder to anyone searching for marriage online.

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh brothers and sisters

Please be careful, especially my sisters, including reverts and divorced women.

Not everyone who speaks beautifully about deen necessarily lives by it. Some people know the right Islamic words to say, quote Quran and hadith, and present themselves as practising, yet their actions don't always reflect what they claim. We cannot know anyone's intentions, but we can pay attention to consistency between words and actions.

Do your due diligence. Ask questions. Observe. Make istikhara. Seek istishara. Don't ignore things that don't sit right with you, and don't feel guilty for walking away when something doesn't align with your values.

And to anyone who knowingly presents themselves as something they are not in order to gain someone's trust: Ittaqullah. I won't name or shame anyone, but if this reminder reaches you, then perhaps it's for you. Take a moment to genuinely reflect on yourself and make tawbah before you're called to account. You may think your actions go unnoticed and that screens may hide things from people but nothing is hidden from Allah, and people are becoming more aware and taking the time to verify what they are told. Whether in this dunya or on yawm alqiyamah, every promise, every lie, every time wasted and every trust that is broken will be accounted for.

Being divorced or a revert does not make someone desperate, naive or of lesser value. We all deserve honesty, respect and sincere intentions.

May Allah protect everyone searching for marriage, grant us spouses of deen and akhlaq, and keep us all sincere in our intentions. Ameen.
