Should I just nuke my channel and start a new one?
Hey everyone,
I’ve noticed a really frustrating issue lately and I'm wondering if anyone has been in the same boat. (Long-form) Recently, YouTube started throttling the impressions on my videos to absolutely ridiculous numbers.
At first, I was second-guessing myself, thinking maybe the overall quality just wasn't there yet. But my latest videos are on much more popular topics, and I've significantly leveled up my production and scriptwriting. Despite the higher quality, they somehow got even fewer impressions, eventually views dropped to a laughable "under 20 numbe"r. Unsurprisingly, my subscriber growth has completely flatlined alongside this.
Another weird thing I noticed: the percentage of my audience from English-speaking countries (especially the US) has noticeably tanked for no apparent reason.
Because of all this, I'm seriously considering a hard reset - deleting this channel and starting a brand new one from scratch. My plan is to take my old videos, give them a light re-edit and re-render (to avoid Reused Content filters), and upload them once a week to the new account. Once those are out, I’d just transition into uploading the new backlog of content I’ve accumulated.
Has anyone done a hard reset like this when their impressions flatlined? Does it actually help escape the algorithm's graveyard, or is it a bad idea? Would love to hear your thoughts, bc rn I am kinda desperate in that.
