Question about luggage storage on the California Zephyr

We will be traveling next week on California Zephyr from Chicago to Sacramento, and staying in Sacramento for a week, going to Tahoe, then flying back to NYC.

We booked a sleeper compartment, I don’t want to check my luggage because I don’t know what I’m going to need in my carry-on. We each will have one carry-on and one backpack and then a bag with necessities like snacks, wipes and extension cord, Etc.

Is there room in the sleeper for two carry-ons? Or is there a place in the hallway to put them so I can retrieve them easily if need be?

Thanks for any info.
