ISO 3.5mm, wired, ANC

Just like the subject says. I'm resurrecting my standalone, pre-bluetooth, pre-USB-C audio player. (New battery, replacing 40GB hard disk with 128GB compact flash card, open source firmware...) I want to start buying and owning recordings again and get away from streaming, for various reasons. But I've never found a pair of passive earbuds that block out the world as well as my Soundcore Liberty 4 NCs. (Best ANC at their pricepoint, IMO. No, I'm not sponsored. 🤣) Do the etymotics really live up to the hype? I'm half tempted to do something ridiculous like picking up a tiny BT transmitter to hook up to the player. But that sounds like a broken jack disaster waiting to happen, on top of just being an unhinged idea. Any thoughts?
