The simplest way to figure out what in your business can be automated (no tech knowledge needed)

Most people think automation is complicated. It's not — finding what to automate is actually the easiest part.

Here's a 3-minute exercise:

1. Write down everything you did yesterday that you've done before, exactly the same way
2. Circle anything that involved moving data from one place to another
3. Highlight anything where you thought "I shouldn't be doing this"

That list is your automation backlog.

The tasks that are repetitive, rule-based, and don't need a human judgment call in the middle are almost always automatable. You don't need to know how — you just need to know what.
