Second speeding ticket in under a year, wondering what the insurance hit actually looks like
Got caught by photo radar in Tigard, OR doing 49 in a 35. It’s my second violation in about a year, first one (red light) got dismissed via traffic school but I already used that option so it’s not available this time. Court offered to reduce the fine to $125, but it stays a conviction either way. An attorney could maybe get it reclassified to a non-moving violation for ~$400, no guarantee though.
Leaning toward just paying the $125 and moving on rather than spending $400 on a maybe. Anyone know what a first (second) speeding conviction within a year actually does to premiums in real dollars? Trying to figure out if it’s worth fighting or if I’m overthinking a fairly minor ticket.
