“ We are all the same… “

I Love You

I am just a human, like everyone else here
On this planet, in this world
And
“We are all the same…”

And in this church’s sanctuary…
Where people come to serve
And
Where people come to be served,
“We are all the same”

We all have 2 arms, 2 legs, 10 fingers, 10 toes
We all have 2 eyes, 1 heart, 1 soul and 1 longing
That longing is
To simply belong
To simply be accepted
To simply be treated with respect

We all deserve to feel
A kindness
A tenderness of spirit
And an understanding above all else

There is no judgment within these walls
And never will be

They say this is God’s house

Well I say, if that is so
Then expect to also be loved

To where,
Everyone of us can drop all our defenses
Everyone of us can look each other in the eye
And never have to turn away
In shame for any reason

Because again,”we are all the same”

So to those of you that come to be served
Know you are loved
Know you are deserving of kindness and a smile
As every human being is,
Regardless of color, race, age or circumstance

Don’t expect anything but kindness here

So softly unfurl those brows
So turn those frowns upside down
So melt the chill that may live in your heart
As you are always accepted here
And don’t ever forget that

Love can be found in the eyes of the person right next to you,
If you just dare to look

If you just dare to, for once, to lay down your armor
And
Let the world see who you really are

Please be as surprised as I was,
When I walked through the doors
That I thought held only darkness
To find
A beautiful light within
Full of a warmth that blanketed me
And brought peace to my soul

Again, hear what I say and what I believe and
What I know deep in my heart, which is that :
We “are” all the same
We all bleed the same
We all heal the same

So lets, at least for today

Feel it
Love it
And
Be it…

Because I know I will,

And I am counting on everyone else here today
To open their hearts.
