🛥️ What We Shipped Today: Inkling is now available on just4o.chat | Open-Weight Multimodal Model
Hey everyone — we’re adding Thinking Machines Lab’s Inkling to just4o.chat.
Inkling is an Apache 2.0 open-weight multimodal model that can work with text, images, and audio. It has 975B total parameters, 41B active parameters, and up to a 1M-token context window. What makes it especially interesting for us isn’t only the size: its thinking effort is configurable, so you can trade speed and cost for deeper reasoning when a task calls for it.
That fits the direction we’re taking with just4o.chat: choose the model you want for each conversation, keep the same persona across models, and experiment with systems that can be customized rather than being locked to one provider. We’re starting with the main Inkling model and currently treating it as a base-tier option. We’re also looking at Inkling-Small as a lower-cost model for higher-volume use.
A couple of caveats: Inkling currently produces text output, so it won’t replace our image, audio, or video generation models. And the exact multimodal experience will depend on which provider endpoint we use. The model card and documentation are here: https://thinkingmachines.ai/model-card/inkling/ and https://tinker-docs.thinkingmachines.ai/cookbook/inkling/thinking-effort/
We’ll update the model page once it’s live. We’d especially like feedback on how it performs for coding, long-context work, image and audio analysis, tool use, and personas.
What would you want us to test first? 💚Hey everyone — Inkling is now available on just4o.chat.
