As far as I'm concerned, this might actually be true because no insider information or "scoops" if you will are ever this detailed. From the pitch that McQuarrie himself gave –

• Bryan Singer has absolutely no involvement whatsoever with the revived Bad Hat Harry (2026 - present) due to all the controversies and allegations around him, McQuarrie stated that even though he'll forever be grateful to him for giving him his first ever big break, he can't in any good consciousness work with Singer after all the shit that's both now known about him and came out about him which makes perfect sense if you ask me.

• One thing that will be continuing from the original Bad Hat Harry, according to McQuarrie in the pitch, is them still making movies and TV shows that are simultaneously unique and distinctive but are also completely different one from the other. He even, from what I understand, said something along the lines of "One day, we could be doing a movie on the July 20 plot in 1944 to assassinate Adolf Hitler (Valkyrie) and then the next day, we do a show about a misanthropic doctor addicted to vicodin (House)".

• The different filmmakers that McQuarrie wants to work with at the new Bad Hat Harry are the following – Stephen Sommers, Gore Verbinski, Michelle MacLaren, Joseph Kosinski, Robert Rodriguez, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Gareth Edwards, Michael Dougherty, Matthew Vaughn, Michael Bay, Jon Turteltaub, Louis Leterrier, David Yates, Andrew Stanton, Brad Bird, Travis Knight, James Watkins and Gia Coppola.

• Meanwhile, the different media that influences the new Bad Hat Harry are the following – Wildwood (2026), the Pirates Of The Caribbean Trilogy, the Jurassic Park Trilogy, The Fast and the Furious (2001), Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, Andor, Grand Theft Auto V, Borderlands 2, The Expanse, Daredevil (Netflix), Moon Knight (Mini-Series), War Of The Worlds (2005), Toy Story 2, X-Men: First Class, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Batman Begins and Troy (2004). Damn fine choices in my opinion.

• The potential first project McQuarrie is looking to develop for Bad Hat Harry (2026 - now) is Calling All Robots, which was intended to be a motion capture animated movie with giant robots fighting giant monsters that was to be produced by Robert Zemeckis, executive produced by Bryan Singer and written/directed by Michael Dougherty. It was basically Pacific Rim before Pacific Rim and what McQuarrie wants to do is make it a stylized computer animated film in the same veins as the TV shows Love, Death & Robots and Secret Level. https://cancelled-movies.fandom.com/wiki/Calling\_All\_Robots.

All of this could be true or false.

We don't know.

Take it with a pinch of salt.

Me personally, I think it may actually be true because for a "simple rumor", it has way more details than they're should be and if it is true, I wish them the best.

Here's some more of the details surrounding the rumor that Christopher McQuarrie is buying Bad Hat Harry which may potentially be true:
