[Lotm ch 1394] Just finished reading this masterpiece

SpoilerNovel discussion

I finally finished this novel and I'm genuinely speechless. There's simultaneously so much to say and yet I can't talk about anything specific, this was genuinely such a special experience.

First of all, the goodbyes. Will crying, blessing klein and deciding to not accommodate the uniqueness to not burden klein (and also because he's scared of cw, but im not gonna focus on that), the tarot club realizing that the World is gone, and calling him the pillar of their club was so heartbreaking. Audrey and Leonard didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to their friend. Klein assigning them missions too. I'm gonna miss the tarot club, I know they appear in book 2 but I heard that they aren't featured that much. Audrey's decision to stay away from her family. All the characters have had amazing development, but Audrey's has been my favorite. The way she evolved from naive, sheltered noble to a powerhouse who truly understood the horrors of this world was amazing. Azik replying to Klein's letters was a gutpunch too. I just wish we could've seen klein talking to miss messenger at the end. Also Arrodes is the goat for sticking with klein

Klein was an amazing mc, who I'll dearly miss. I thought he was boring at first, which was fine by me as the world was interesting enough to carry the story, but as the story progressed his depth amazed me. His personas and how he felt about them, the seer pathway as whole were really interesting to read about. The world building is among the best I've seen in all of fiction. The characters, whether friend or foe, all had such distinct personalities while still being rooted in reality.

Overall, it's been an amazing journey. I don't even remember when I started reading this story, but over time it became the first thing I read when I got some free time. I haven't interacted much with the sub (because the first time I did I somehow managed to spoil myself on book 2 material), and I probably still won't in fear of book 2 spoilers, but I needed to express how I felt after reading this wonderful piece of fiction. The ending gave me the same feelings I had when reading the orv ending, but while I cried reading orv's ending, lotm left me feeling profoundly empty, and I don't know which is worse.

I definitely need a break before starting book 2
