Rice Cooker Accessories That Are Actually Worth Buying
I’ve owned a rice cooker for years, and one thing I learned is that you really don’t need a bunch of fancy extras. Most accessories end up sitting in a drawer. But a few are actually useful and make cooking easier.
The first thing I'd recommend is a good rice paddle. The one that comes with many rice cookers is pretty basic. A better paddle is easier to hold, rice sticks less, and serving is much smoother.
A steamer basket is another accessory that earns its place. While your rice cooks, you can steam vegetables, dumplings, fish, or even eggs. It saves time and means fewer dishes to wash.
If you cook different kinds of rice often, grab a measuring cup made for rice cookers. Rice cooker cups are smaller than regular cups, so using the correct one helps you get consistent results every time.
I also think a replacement inner pot is worth having if you use your rice cooker a lot. You can keep one clean while the other is in use, and it's a lifesaver if the original pot ever gets scratched.
One accessory people forget about is a heat-resistant spoon rest. It sounds simple, but it keeps your counter clean when you're serving hot rice.
Finally, if you meal prep, a few airtight food containers are a great companion to your rice cooker. Freshly cooked rice stores well in the fridge and is easy to reheat during the week.
In my opinion, that's really all you need. Skip the gimmicky accessories and spend your money on things you'll actually use every week. A rice cooker is already one of the easiest kitchen tools around, and the right accessories just make it even better.
