I wanted to make some post regarding Yuno and her infamous writing for a while now. Since I'm in summerbreak, it's probably the best time ! I did hesitate since I have the feeling that it is something that everyone is already saying but I decided that I rather yap about Yuno a little anyyway.

So, as we begin we actually need to reminder us the facts.

Why Yuno writing is considered bad by the fandom ?

Note that I'm talking about the majority of the western side. If you have other reason feel free to share them. But, the fandom, in general, think that Yuno writing is bad because of the fact she didn't do anything but still ended up in Milgram. Indeed, THANKFULLY, the majority of the Milgram fandom is Pro-Choice (pro-abortion), meaning that we're all in the same understanding that miscarriage and/or abortion aren't murder. Putting her placement in Milgram being even more controversial because of it.

There is also Yuno reaction and the fact that she currently regrets her miscarriage and put a lot of blame in herself. Mahiru last words are really infamous for that ; where Yuno started to feel really guilty because Mappi wanted a baby but die before achieving her dream when Yuno lost hers.

And honestly, I don't agree with this.

There is women who regret their misscariage (like of course) there is women that regret their abortions. . It isn't pro-life to regret an abortion afterward or to have bad feeling about it. It is pro-life when you suddendly decided that because YOU regret it, it's mean that no one as to have the right of abortion ever again. (We can ask ourselve about the origin of this regret since it can come from the fact that a lot of people put the blame on women for fertilty issue for example buuttt it would be too long and I'm here to talk about Yuno Milgram)

And that why I love Yuno (well there is a lot of a reason but I will talk about this one).

She's a good representation of the people who, even if they could have that statut, reject the statut of victim. In her case it's not because of some kind of healing tactics but more about self hatred. Her regretting her misscariage is exactly that. She hates herself so much that she barely see the arm that was cause to her and she overburden herseld. I think that why T2 was so brutal to her. Because, out of nowhere so many people put her in a box that she doesn't see herself yet (and maybe never but in Yuno case I hope she will one day because it isn't healthy at all). I found this really interessing because it does teach to people not everyone will react on objectively awful or traumatic situation the same way and we need to let people the time and the right to put themself the victim label if they want to.

But.

T3.

Because, yeah, there is people like Yuno in real life and she's a good representation of people struggle or life choices. But, Milgram is a piece of fiction and, if not do correctly, her character like Yuno can send a bad message or signal.

And I don't think they did correctly.

Es should have intervene and say that Yuno didn't murder anyone during her T3 interrogation. I don't think it would have been good for Yuno but at the end of the day, she's a fictionnal character and not doing so put an occasion to understand Milgram message as "abortion is bad". Since he had an infamous crash out on Twitter, I know it wasn't Yamanaka intention but I clearly see why people intepret it that way.

I think that Yuno not being a murderer should have been one of the focus point of her character.

Like, she shouldn't being here. Everyone (or atleast Es) should have agree with that. Her placement in this prison should have been the main focus.

Like you can have two angle.

The "Milgram is bad" angle. Where Yuno being here capsuled even more how Milgram is a bad system that put even people like Yuno in a prison because of how they interpret murder.

Or the "Pro-Choice" angle where she could put the pro-life rhetoric in his limit. "Abortion is murder ? So a mentally ill teenager who lost her baby after she accidentaly felt from a stair is a murderer ?"

You can even do both in the same time but they really choose to be the most ambiguous possible and that piss me off.

Yuno, what you could have been...
