Mini-triFat-thatlon
Have you set yourself food challenges? How did it go?
Have you any ideas of things you'd like to take on?
=====================================
There was an Iron Man race in my city this weekend (3.8km swimming, 180km biking, 42km running). I was speculating on Feabie on what a feedist equivalent event would look like, and the wonderful Feabie user Aunty-FA came up with the term trifatthalon.
I'm not currently in a position to go at iron-man levels, but every now and then I have to let my feedee side out to play even if I can't make that an overall lifestyle these days due to health stuff. So I decided I'd do a mini trifatthalon over three days, fulfilling different feedee tropes. The plan was:
- Friday, go out for lunch to the huge buffet restaurant near work, and eat more than my recommended daily calories in one meal -- according to an online calculator that would be a target of at least 2550 (huge meal stuffing)
- Saturday, each meal double up, either having a second meal or heavy seconds (the all day stuffing)
- Sunday, have a big feed of corn on the cob, slathered in butter (pigs are often fed on corn, so going for the pig trope)
Here is how it all worked out.
Friday, total success despite some bumps along the way
- Part of the plan had to do with the fact that Friday was payday, and I had some 'fun money' left in my wallet to throw at this. Then Friday morning, for reasons not worth getting into, I got convinced that payday was a week away, so I scrubbed my plans and made a lunch to take in to work.
- I had a call just before noon that was apt to go into the lunch hour, so I ate that packed lunch about 11:15, but the call ended up being quick and I was free before noon. Then I double checked, and it really was payday. I decided to go with my plan, even though I'd just eaten lunch.
- I won't give a blow-by-blow of my plates, but the restaurant has estimated calories on each food item, and I kept track and easily ate over 3000 calories, on top of the bagged lunch from home. So probably closer to 1.5 days worth of recommended calories. And while I was somewhat full and in a bit of a food coma after, if I hadn't had to get back to work I definitely could have had more.
Saturday, mostly a success
- I had my usual very sensible breakfast, then biked ~25 minutes to my mothers place to do some chores for her, on the way I stopped off for a second breakfast from McDonalds.
- While biking home I didn't want to do McD's again, so I stopped off for a lebanese meat pie, roughly equivalent to having a sandwich so short of a full meal. Then home for a light lunch, then after a nap more lunch. Didn't have that satisfying clear double meal, but was for sure feeling pretty bloated.
- Supper I made sure to have some seconds, then went for a walk after and had a smoked meat sandwich. Again not a full meal, although I had a pretty good sized supper. Again, not as satisfying as a clear double meal, but it was what I could fit in without being too disruptive to the family schedule
Sunday, partial success
- I love corn on the cob, my wife less so, our kid somewhat mixed. When I stopped at a vendor I got half a dozen big cobs of corn, thinking that my wife may or may not have one and that kid would have one.
- However wife had one and kid had two. I did eat the other three, drawing comment from my wife, but I definitely had room for more (despite also having had quite a good amount of nachos)
- Three big cobs is not nothing, but I didn't feel like a total pig getting fattened on corn, so not a full success.
