Odyssey v Horizons

I noticed that in a post from a year ago someone said that if you play the live version of Horizons you can't buy new ships , this is totally untrue . I play Horizons and you CAN buy any of the new ships , in fact I have several of them . I don't like Odyssey because for me it's just CoD in space and it goes against the spirit of the original from 1984 which I played on C64 and Amiga .
