footnotes/hover over for text?

Hi, I want to start writing some substack articles, and wanted to include footnotes to add small personal notes/info like david foster wallace (especially enjoyed his consider the lobster).

but with substack, the footnotes would go directly to the bottom, and I would hate for my viewers to have to scroll back up everytime. would that be the case? if so, is there any alternative, like adding a button where if they hover/click then the text I would like to have displayed be shown there?
