I believe this is half of the pedicle and coronat from a deer. Looking for confirmation.

I found this fossilized bone on North Myrtle Beach, SC, USA this weekend. The bone is rock-like and appears to have undergone mineral replacement fossilized with black phosphate which is common amongst Pleistocene land mammal fossils in this area.

I think it’s the pedicle and coronate from a white-tailed deer that is broken in half. The appearance of the superior surface looks like the beam of the antler shed naturally and was not attached during the fossilization process. I have found a white-tailed deer maxillary molar in this same area.
