First PH launch today - what I got wrong in the prep, and what I'd do differently

Launched Revertix on Product Hunt today (WordPress staging/backup plugin) and figured the useful thing to post here isn't the product, it's what the prep actually taught me.

What I got right:

  • Wrote the first comment before launch day instead of typing it at midnight
  • Built the description around one specific pain (staging plugins timing out on shared hosting) instead of listing features
  • Hunted it myself - PH says outright there's no real advantage to a third-party hunter anymore

What I got wrong:

  • Started building an audience on PH way too late. My follower count on launch day was basically zero, and that shows immediately
  • Underestimated how much the gallery matters. The first image is the thumbnail and mine is functional, not attention-grabbing
  • No demo video. A 20-second screen recording would have done more than three static screenshots

Page is here if anyone wants to look at the execution and tell me what else is off: https://www.producthunt.com/products/revertix

For those who've launched before - what's the one prep step you'd say matters most in hindsight?
