Looking to go back to work but not sure if this is the right fit?
I am retired and I recently was approached by a company that is looking to hire someone who can sell their scissor lifts. I thought it would be an interesting opportunity, but I have never operated one and I understand that factory enviornments and safety culture might be important. I don't know the technical details about safety guidelines for example, how important is it to knwo this stuff. I have worked in the manufacturing world my entire life and thought this might be something easy to do now that I don't want a full time job.
They just want someone on the floor who can help sell scissor lifts and other kinds of pallet trucks etc. I have done some research and found that there are some companies that make them and sell them in teh US like JLG, Genie, Skyjack, Snorkel and Atomoving. How steep is the learning curve when it comes to the technical details of these machines, is it easy to learn and is it something that I guess doesn't require a steep learning curive? I was thinking that I should just reading up on them and learning before I go for my interview, I kind of need this job. My wife can't work anymore and eventhough we are retired everything is so expensive we need a little extra money and this wouldn't hurt.
