First and foremost, yes I know the game has become "very laggy" but that's just how it is when a game undergoes a major graphical update, yes it sucks trust me I know but you got to just work with what you can! Maybe for a part it may have improved performance!

That being said, in order for me to fully utilize the new lighting, I have set the graphics to mid settings(make of that what you will)

which get me around the 30-40 fps range, so in order to counter the jittering, I use something called Lossless Scaling on Steam, in short it generates AI frames off your GPU and it inserts them in between each real frame, giving the illusion of high fps when your pc is running low, for me the game actually runs at 40 fps but feel like 70 to 80 fps.

But this comes at the cost of input lag, if you are keen on attention to detail you may see mushiness or random weirdness here and there( personally I cant seem to find them or be bothered at all) and that gut feeling of it not being real frames all the time. Also micro stutters

Personally it worked so good for me I play with it on every time I open Beamng, have a try for yourself and see if it works, this ain't a proper fix for the issue you may be facing but just my solution for performance, if anyone like to add more info or correct me go ahead :)
