One Ethereum prediction that people laughed at but actually came true

Discussion

One prediction I remember people dismissing was that rollups would become Ethereum's long-term scaling solution.

Back then, many believed Ethereum's high gas fees would eventually push users toward completely different blockchains. The idea that Layer 2 networks could handle most activity while Ethereum remained the settlement layer sounded unrealistic to many.

Today, that picture looks very different.
Rollups process transactions more efficiently while still benefiting from Ethereum's security. Instead of replacing Ethereum, they've expanded what the ecosystem can support.
What stands out to me isn't just the technology it's the mindset behind it.

Rather than abandoning the network and starting over, developers focused on improving the existing ecosystem through Layer 2 innovation.
To me, that's one of Ethereum's biggest success stories because it showed that scaling didn't require sacrificing decentralization or rebuilding everything from scratch.
