Why isn’t Family Care Leave more common in Singapore?

General

With Singapore’s ageing population and declining birth rates, I’m surprised Family Care Leave isn’t a more common employee benefit.

I know there’s already Childcare Leave, but that’s only useful if you have children. Many people today are caring for ageing parents, young children, or both. Yet many still have to use annual leave for medical appointments or family emergencies.

Would a few days of Family Care Leave make more sense as a broader benefit that supports all caregivers, not just parents? Curious to hear what others think.
