You can actually play the "Hello Bendy" build if you own the game on Steam!
So I watched a video where a dude went and played the Hello Neighbor version of the Hello Bendy crossover, however he wasn't able to get the Bendy And The Ink Machine version working. (link to said dude's vid: https://youtu.be/G4zP5u6wQlg?is=xFJDBCMgbZnMFH4s )
I found a way to get it working!
Huge thanks to the Silksong speedrunnung community for giving me the idea that made this work! (I'm sure that other communities do the same thing, however this is the one that gave me the idea)
You used to be able to download the Hello Bendy build of BATIM through the Steam betas feature, however that has since been long removed, so you will need to download the game using the Steam console. Here's how to do that and get it running!
-
Open the Steam console by either in a browser or by pressing ctrl + R and typing in `steam://open/console`
-
Download the specific Hello Bendy build of the game by typing in `download_depot 622650 622651 5230433495071958371` and pressing enter. If you don't feel safe running this download, i got this from the official SteamDB site, but you can do that yourself if you would feel safer doing so.
-
Once downloaded, open up the folder where the game got downloaded, and create a new text file labeled `steam_appid`.
-
Open up the new text file you created, and type in the app id for the game, in our case it js `622650` (this number can be found on the home page for BATIM on SteamDB as well)
-
Launch the game!
I hope this quick little guide finds itself useful to many people out there! Have Fun!
