KSRTC Priyadarshini
Personally I didn't have any problems since the arrival of Priyadarshini scheme except for the over crowd. But when I thought about it, this scheme might be extremely dangerous and might have long-lasting damages to the kerala society.....
No. I am not talking about the crumbling of private sector in transportation. Although that might be a serious problem as well.
I am taking about the shift in the mindset of our people. Let me explain: I grew up listening to my parents, and elders about gender equality. Men and women are equal. Their roles might change but don't think you are superior to a girl just because you are a boy. And that Idea of equality settled in me from a young age. I think this might be the case with a lot of people.
Now, since the introduction of Priyadarshini Scheme, I have noticed a change of attitude in many people (men). Like, friends, relatives, colleagues, casual people I met during traveling. The people are openly expressing their annoyance with women traveling for free in Priyadarshini Bus. At some point I felt like they are considering women as secondary citizens. And this was not at all a one time experience. The equality mindset is crumbling...
This shift in mindset is dangerous and might destroy our society...☠️☠️
And the surprising fact is that no-one is noticing this.
