No Crusades and Jihads?

Been playing as Byzantium and noticed that after the first catholic crusade for Jerusalem, there were absolutely no other Crusades or Jihads for any kingdom.
I even took all of arabia and Persia and there was not a single Jihad called onto me, nor did the Catholics try another Crusade.
Is this a bug or am I missing something?
