Workshop Mods are awesome but...

Modding

I've been incredibly excited for mods getting a more official addition to SM2 since the announcement. Sadly, however, I am greatly underwhelmed by the restrictions placed on modders and mod using players, namingly not allowing client side mods to be used locally for players in public lobbies. I believe this is a HUGE missed opportunity as it would fix a lot of the community's issues, especially cosmetically. I'm talking about things such as displaying the real stats of weapons on the weapon select screen instead of what we have now, bringing the Battle Sim DPS meter into operations or allowing custom cosmetics locally (such as Grey Knights which I'm 666% sure Focus/Saber won't add officially. None of these provide unfair advantages or any gameplay improvements, they're really just there to spice the game up. Obligatory mention of customizable Bulwark banners here, same story.

For another category, that might fall into the "helps you do better", some minor mods such as "always display parry/dodge indicators", "highlight vulnerable zones" or "Hyperarmour indicator" could help some players without trivializing the game. Not to mention things like displaying more status effects properly (like heroic perks such as the new Salamander Sword) or "Display buff timers". This is a bit more on the personal preference side, but I really do not think these would be unwelcome by 90% of the community. And again, all of these are LOCAL mods, nothing that affects the server or public games. One could run around with their modded "insert niche chapter" drip, and other players would see a basic ass ultramarine (or maybe a previously equipped outfit) on their side.

So I must ask, why is this not the case? Does it bother anyone else? Have the devs made a statement?
