Rakhi from a distant sister ?

I (26M) have no sisters. I have some cousin sisters but I am sure they are unaware of my existence 😅. There was one didi in my neighbour though like 12years elder to me. Our families made it a point that she would tie rakhi to me and my brothers every year. That was the only rakhi i used to get.

I barely talked to her or have that sibling bond. And every rakhi, my elder brother used to give her money on behalf of all of us. Now i moved out of my home for work and she got married (also has kids). But she still tied rakhi to my other brothers. For few years, I have been rakhi-less.

But last year, she called me and asked for my address and sent a rakhi to my place. Now I didn't know how to reciprocate so I just sent her some money via UPI. She called me and scolded me a lot for doing that. I really don't know what the expectation was. Or was she even expecting anything and just sent me a rakhi out of goodwill.

Now today, she called me again for my address to send rakhi. I still don't know how to reciprocate. I am not really talkative with her. I just gave her my address.

Gifting and being socially active has never been a thing in my family, I never learnt these stuff. My family does not even celebrate birthdays, lol. For any events like marriage, or anything we just used to give money. This is how i have been raised 🫠.

What do i do ? I won't be sending money for sure. I am thinking of doing nothing and just say thank you.
