Joe 90 was a British science fiction television series created by Gerry Anderson and produced by Century 21 Productions.

First broadcast in 1968, the series followed Joe McClaine, a young secret agent who used the BIG RAT (Brain Impulse Galvanic Response And Transfer) system to receive expert knowledge through his iconic brainwave glasses.

The series combined futuristic technology, espionage, and Supermarionation techniques that became associated with Gerry Anderson's productions.

### 💡 Why It Mattered

Joe 90 represented one of the most imaginative examples of 1960s British science fiction television.

Following earlier Gerry Anderson productions such as Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet, the series pushed Supermarionation further by combining miniature effects, futuristic concepts and spy fiction around a child protagonist.

Its ideas of transferred knowledge and advanced technology reflected a period fascinated by automation, computers and the possibilities of the future.
