Should I not be posting my questions in multiple subreddits?

Someone has been leaving comments on posts saying things such as "exactly how many subreddits are you going to post in" even went as far as to say I must have some sort of mental andor intellectual problem.

But when I post something Reddit seems to suggest I repost it to other subreddits? Is this not something you're supposed to do?
