There have been many threads about backup strategies and they always mention the importance of (regularly) testing your backups by trying to restore from them. How do you do this?

Like many, I backup my data via backrest to a NAS that's at my parents' house. I'm currently pumping over 400GB of Immich data in order to test whether I can actually restore from it. This is not very conducive to regular testing... I guess what I'm asking: is there no easier way? 👀
