Alcohol that gives you magic, but leaves you in an unending haze.

Lore

I had the thought that it could be interesting if alchemy had a sort of alcoholic offshoot. Basically, you can infuse a spell into a brew by rotting specific flowers together. When consumed, the alcohol habits the brain indefinitely. But the spell is also a permanent addition to the mind.

The stupor that people feel is directly correlated to the level of alcohol they consume, but the strength of the spell is directly correlated how well the alcohol was made.

Alchemists make these alcohols with the intention of getting you the least drunk while giving you the most power. But no one can completely remove the effects. And the stupor will remain til you die. And the stronger the stupor the less control you have over your spells.

Furthermore, drinking too much alcohol will kill you as it would if it were just regular alcohol. But magic is a fickle thing. The magic will swell upon your death, creating a mana storm. A phenomenon that redistributes the mana you consumed into the surrounding environment. Though the more magic you have, the more violent the storm.

Idk. Just a thought I had.

Edit: What I would say "well-made" means is higher concentration of mana vs alcohol content.

Mana becomes available only due to rot breaking down the barriers that contain it. So if you make a "potion" out of fruits or any sort of sugary ingredient, it would have some level of alcohol in it.
