Just finished both games back to back.

Blasphemous II (Sequel)

16 hours in the first game and 30 hours in the sequel. The original is great, but Blasphemous 2 is a massive step up across the board: mechanics, movement, weapons, music, and boss design. If you want to make a case about lore, I don't play these games for the lore.

Most people say the sequel is easier, but I think it's the opposite. In the first game, Isidora was the only real wall, every other boss took me three tries at most. Most bosses in Blasphemous 2 actually have full movesets instead of just chucking random fireballs at you. The only boss I didn't care for was the final one, Incarnate Devotion.

Exploring is far more enjoyable in the sequel. I spent so much time trying to find everything, while in the first game it felt like a chore since I didn't know you could donate a certain amount to teleport. I walked zone to zone all the time lol. Another point for B2 on this one. Finding the sisters was a clever way to get the benefits. In the first, you had to guess for the donations or look up a guide.

Overall fantastic games. I prefer the sequel more.
